Having just played yesterday, Grand River Academy will get right back to it and host the Fuchs Mizrachi Mayhem at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, Grand River Academy got the win against Horizon Science Academy by a conclusive 67-47. 67 seems to be a good number for Grand River Academy as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Grand River Academy found their leader in underclassman Filip Runjo, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Runjo is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 18 every time he's taken the court this season. Joseph Quartey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Fuchs Mizrachi's strategy against Denver Academy of Torah two weeks ago. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Fuchs Mizrachi blew Denver Academy of Torah out of the water with a 78-20 final score. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Fuchs Mizrachi has managed all season.
Grand River Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.3 points. As for Fuchs Mizrachi, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Grand River Academy couldn't quite finish off Fuchs Mizrachi when the teams last played back in December of 2022 and fell 57-54. Can Grand River Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
