McQueen is 1-9 against Spanish Springs since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Lancers will host the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Tuesday, McQueen got the win against Hug by a conclusive 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.
McQueen walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-22, 25-22, 25-9.
McQueen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nya Lagrone led the charge by getting 11 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Lagrone has posted over her last six matchups. Another player making a difference was Madi Brenner, who had eight digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good servers: McQueen was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Spanish Springs challenged North Valleys on Thursday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Panthers. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
While Spanish Springs won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-16, 25-22.
McQueen better focus on containing Gianna Antle and Adylenn Trimble as the pair were huge in Spanish Springs' win. Antle had 12 digs and four assists, while Trimble had five digs and one assist. Antle has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times she's played.
McQueen's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Spanish Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.
McQueen suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Spanish Springs in their previous matchup back in September. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Cougars' AJ Robinson, who had six digs, two aces, and one block.
