Walnut had a senior duo take command as Noah Covarrubias threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes and Demetrius Stampley rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Stampley was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards.
San Bernardino's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Henry Hernandez, who rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown, and Tahj Brookins who rushed for 72 yards on only seven carries.
Walnut is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for San Bernardino, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.
Walnut will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Monica at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Monica is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. San Bernardino does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
