Kent Denver extended the longest winning streak in 2A Colorado this week by beating Denver West, 49-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Ridgeview Academy and Sheridan played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Ridgeview Academy eventually emerging with a 14-12 victory.
Kent Denver's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zander Ellis threw for 16 yards and Ryan Weiss had 16 yards receiving. On the ground Jaden Franklin chipped in 133 yards. Brannon Jones helped Kent Denver's passing attack out by catching one ball for eight yards.
Vince Moquin made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bennett beat Manual. The defensive end recorded one fumble and grabbed 2.0 sacks.
The Tigers' Joshua Miller and Tanner Wineland have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Miller has thrown for 544 yards this season, while Wineland has six catches for 240 yards. Franklin from Scott Yates' team leads the league in rushing with 1105 yards.
A big matchup in 2A Colorado this week will be when Bennett takes on the Rams. Rick Jacoby's team is currently in second, while Ridgeview Academy is in third.
The Rams made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,807 from 11,327. The improvement was the result of 14-12 victory over the Rams last week.
