Dekaney couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 30-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Port Arthur Memorial Titans on Friday.
Defeat or not, Dekaney got some senior leadership from Tanook Hines and Nicholas Townsend. Hines picked up 155 receiving yards, while Townsend. picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown. Townsend got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 76 yards. Dekaney also got a significant boost from Samaritan Cunningham, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 106 yards.
Dekaney will face off against Paetow at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Dekaney focused on turnovers this week as team gave up six on Friday. As for Port Arthur Memorial, they will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Legacy School of Sport Sciences on Friday.
