The Harnett Central Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Overhills, falling 53-18. While losing is never fun, Harnett Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while Overhills is ranked 194th).
Overhills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eva Mcrae led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six steals and five blocks. Mcrae has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaiah Mcgee, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Harnett Central has not been sharp recently as the team has lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Overhills, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harnett Central will face off against Pine Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Overhills, they will head out on the road to take on Triton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
