Thorp and Stanley-Boyd are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Thorp Cardinals' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Stanley-Boyd Orioles at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Thorp suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Regis 76-24. While losing is never fun, Thorp can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while Regis is ranked 61st).
Meanwhile, Stanley-Boyd's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They lost to Cadott on the road by a decisive 56-41 margin.
Thorp has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Stanley-Boyd, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Thorp skirted past Stanley-Boyd 40-38 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thorp since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
