Camarillo has gone 9-1 against Royal recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Scorpions will head out to challenge the Highlanders at 3:30 p.m. Camarillo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Camarillo barely beat Oak Park the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Scorpions never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Scorpions.
Camarillo's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Janelle Rillo-Figueroa, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Laynee Flores was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Rillo-Figueroa wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Camarillo lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Park didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Royal's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Moorpark by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Highlanders have suffered since May 7, 2024.
Julianna Galbraith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Royal's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-6. As for Camarillo, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Camarillo hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 2.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Royal struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Camarillo beat Royal 7-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Scorpions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Highlanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
