The Organ Mountain Knights can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 61-30 victory over Silver at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-15.
Organ Mountain had a senior duo take command as Caitlin Turnbow dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds and Yvanna Villarreal scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Turnbow has scored at least a third of Organ Mountain's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Innocence Sugamosto-Clay, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Silver's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylianna Castillo, who scored nine points.
Silver struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Organ Mountain pulled down 22 offensive rebounds.
Organ Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Silver, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Organ Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Roswell at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Roswell is ranked 25th, while Organ Mountain is ranked 15th). As for Silver, they will head out on the road to square off against Socorro at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Socorro has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30.
