Despite their loss, Melbourne Central Catholic saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Hayden Deane, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Deane has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Henry Lane was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Edgewood can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They snuck past Odyssey Charter School with a 46-42 victory.
Edgewood found their leader in underclassman Brayden Wasdin, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Wasdin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Eddie Monterrubio, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Melbourne Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Edgewood, their win bumped their record up to 5-13.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Melbourne Central Catholic have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Edgewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
