Even though the Cedar Reds scored an imposing 55 points on Monday, the Mountain View Bruins still came out on top. Mountain View secured a 61-55 W over Cedar. That looming 61-55 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Mountain View yet this season.
Mountain View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Conner Fairbanks, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Fairbanks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Bryce Mella was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
When it comes to explaining why Cedar lost, one person who can't be blamed is Landon Kreitzer. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points. Kreitzer set a new season high mark in points with 25. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Kee, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Cedar were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Mountain View and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for Cedar, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Mountain View will head out on the road to face off against Cedar Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cedar, they will take on Sports Leadership & Management at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sports Leadership & Management presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cedar in their respective states (Sports Leadership & Management is ranked 34th in Nevada, while Cedar is ranked 119th in Utah).
