Fitzgerald came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They ended the year with a bang, routing the Cook Hornets 62-39. The Purple Hurricane have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 23 points or more this season.

Cook lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryan Thompson J.R., who posted ten points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Thompson J.R. a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquavious Johnson, who had six points and five rebounds.

Fitzgerald's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Cook, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Fitzgerald didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-53 win against Irwin County on the 28th. As for Cook, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-20 loss against Tift County on the 28th.
