The Baldwin Indians will square off against the St. Johns Country Day Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Baldwin gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Orange Park by a score of 9-5.
Chase Staley was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Josh Jordan also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Baldwin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

St. Johns Country Day also got a great performance from Ethan Bissell as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. Bissell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on TJ Sunderhaus, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Wells, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Baldwin's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for St. Johns Country Day, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Baldwin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Johns Country Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Baldwin might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from St. Johns Country Day when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Baldwin have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
