Fordham Prep's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Christ the King as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The game marked the Rams' most dominant win of the season so far.
Joaquin Del Pino made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Del Pino was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other pitching news, Alexander Mendoza looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on John Medina, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Derek Soroa, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Fordham Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Iona Prep made easy work of St. Raymond Boys on Saturday and carried off a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Gaels, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Matthew Petrillo looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Iona Prep got a massive performance out of Devin Diaz, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Diaz is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Julian Guzman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Fordham Prep's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Iona Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.
Fordham Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Iona Prep when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Gaels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
