Video: Top 10 Games of the WeekPerennial national powers DeMatha and St. Thomas Aquinas tangle in South Florida.
In a word, dominating. In another word, smothering. Here's another word: shutout.
It was the first time DeMatha had been shutout since Week 2 of the 2011 season.
The Raiders (1-0) forced three turnovers in the first 15 minutes of play, then got a big all-around game from senior quarterback
Curt Casteel (three touchdown passes) and
Jamal Cooney, who caught two TD passes and returned a punt 50 yards to set up his own score, in an impressive win over the Maryland power.
Two fumble recoveries, one returned 12 yards by
Jahmar Brown for a touchdown, resulted in 10-0 lead earlier in the second quarter. A third fumble recovery led to a tough 5-yard touchdown run by
Daniel Carter midway through the second quarter, making it 17-0.
Cooney then took over, returning a punt 50 yards, setting up a 3-yard TD pass from
Curt Casteel, making it 24-0 just before halftime.
In the second half, Casteel threw a 16-yard scoring pass to Cooney, before finishing off the scoring with a 7-yarder to
Jordan Battle.
From there, the defense did the rest.

St. Thomas Aquinas quarterback Curt Casteel had three touchdown passes in the lopsided victory.
