Softball Recap: Gulf Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Gulf, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Boca Ciega Pirates on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Buccaneers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jeovanna Carter made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julianna Carter, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Delaney, who went 2-for-3 with two triples and one RBI.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Boca Ciega, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2.

Coincidentally, Gulf and Boca Ciega will both be playing Anclote the next time they take the field. Gulf will head out to face Anclote at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Boca Ciega will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
