The Sargent Farmers lost to the Cotopaxi Pirates back in February of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Sargent walked away with a 53-43 win over Cotopaxi.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sargent to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayden Lester, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Corbin Castillo, who scored 14 points.
Cotopaxi's loss came despite strong showings from Terrance Evans and Joel Tezak. Evans dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds, while Tezak scored 11 points along with seven blocks and six rebounds. Evans is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.
Sargent's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Cotopaxi, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.
Sargent won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Del Norte at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Sargent is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season. As for Cotopaxi, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Crested Butte at 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Cotopaxi focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
