The Woodlands has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cleveland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Highlanders will take on the Indians at 7:00 p.m. The Woodlands is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 46.8 points per game this season.
The Woodlands' defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 52-0 victory over Caney Creek. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Highlanders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Panthers are ranked 700th).
The Woodlands found their leader in sophomore Magnus Herndon, who picked up three sacks, forced one fumble, and made eight total tackles. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Halsey, who rushed for 61 yards and one score on only eight carries.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for The Woodlands, racking up 16 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Caycen Bartolazzi, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to The Woodlands' defense and their six sacks. Herndon was especially locked on to Caney Creek's QB and sacked him three times. Herndon has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last four times he's played. The Woodlands got some further help from Jy'Ree Jefferson: he picked up a sack and made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Cleveland scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They had to suffer through a 36-8 loss at the hands of Caney Creek. The Indians have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The Woodlands' win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.7 points on average over those games. As for Cleveland, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for The Woodlands against Cleveland in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 67-3 win. In that game, the Highlanders amassed a halftime lead of 49-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
