The Groton Tigers entered their tilt with the Great Plains Lutheran Panthers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Groton strolled past Great Plains Lutheran with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 57-43. That's another feather in the cap for Groton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia Holmen, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madeline Prahl, who scored five points along with eight rebounds.
Groton's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Great Plains Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Groton will challenge Northwestern Area at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Great Plains Lutheran, they will head out on the road to take on Wilmot at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilmot will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Great Plains Lutheran is ranked 46th).
