The Elkhorn Elks will challenge the Janesville Parker Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elkhorn has four straight wins, Janesville Parker has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Elkhorn is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over Waterford on Monday. While the Elks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
The team relied heavily on Ellie Jacobson, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Addison Schliepp, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Elkhorn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Janesville Parker scored first but ultimately less than Janesville Craig in their matchup on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 4-3.
Delaney King made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Maycee Martin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Elkhorn pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Janesville Parker, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Janesville Parker's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Elkhorn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. It's a different story for Janesville Parker, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain Elkhorn's hitters?
Elkhorn might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Janesville Parker in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Elks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
