Basketball Recap: Dunbar Drops Highest Score of Season Against Island Coast

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dunbar). They came out on top against the Island Coast Gators by a score of 78-66 on Tuesday. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Dunbar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayant Corona, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 19 points. The matchup was Corona's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Garyan Burger, who posted ten points and four steals.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jermiah Oliveras, who had 18 points. Another player making a difference was MarKey Pointer, who put up 13 points.

The victory (which was Dunbar's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Island Coast, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Dunbar didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-52 loss against Gateway on the 12th. As for Island Coast, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-50 win against Ida Baker on the 12th.
