The Lejeune Devil Pups pushed their score all the way to 65 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 78-65 to Northside - Pinetown. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (62), Lejeune still had to take the loss.
Connor Shea and Trevor Highsmith certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Shea scored 30 points along with two steals, while Highsmith dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shea has scored all season. James Rod was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Griffin Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds for Northside - Pinetown. Another player making a difference was Malachi Moore, who scored 17 points.
Lejeune has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Northside - Pinetown, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing East Carteret the next time they take the court. Lejeune will head out to face East Carteret at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Northside - Pinetown will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
