Lakota East has gone 9-1 against Sycamore recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Thunderhawks will face off against the Aviators at 5:00 p.m. Lakota East is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
On Tuesday, Lakota East beat Seton 9-5.
Lakota East got a big performance out of Krystalin Wagner, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Wagner has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lakota East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Sycamore came up short against Goshen on Wednesday and fell 14-10. The loss continues a trend for the Aviators in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.
Kaitlyn Gambaccini made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gabby Chamness, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Lakota East's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Sycamore, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
Sycamore's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lakota East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for Sycamore, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Lakota East's hitters?
Lakota East came out on top in a nail-biter against Sycamore in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
