The Brown County Eagles will square off against the Sullivan Golden Arrows at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brown County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Brown County easily dispatched Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Eagles fell just short of Edinburgh by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since April 15, 2025.
Maelyn Bowling was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI. Gabrielle Dersch was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Sullivan had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against the Eagles.
Jaylynn Hobbs made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Sullivan got a massive performance out of Addie Fosdick, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Fosdick has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Mylee Vandevender, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Sullivan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Brown County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Sullivan, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
Sullivan's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brown County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Sullivan, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Brown County's sizable advantage in that area, the Golden Arrows will need to find a way to close that gap.
