Jaiden Martinez's Big Game Leads Ironwood Ridge over Flowing Wells
Starting off the list is Ironwood Ridge's Jaiden Martinez, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Martinez rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns.
The win (which was Ironwood Ridge's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Martinez and Ironwood Ridge are taking a road trip to square off against Tucson High Magnet School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Alfredo Guzman Turns in Season-Best Effort
On Friday, Flowing Wells had to settle for second even though Alfredo Guzman put up the best numbers he has all season. Guzman rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made two total tackles.
This is the second loss in a row for Flowing Wells and nudges their season record down to 3-3. Guzman and Flowing Wells will play host again on Friday to welcome Mountain View, where kickoff is scheduled at 7:00 p.m.

Nicholas Horrocks Delivers Best Performance of Season
Sadly, Nicholas Horrocks posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Mountain View over Walden Grove on Friday. Horrocks rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 63 yards.
Horrocks is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Flowing Wells on Friday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Horrocks saw the Caballeros), he rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

Jayden Simmons Makes It Two for Flowing Wells
The second Flowing Wells player making an appearance here is Jayden Simmons, and for good reason. He rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown.
For the season, Simmons has run in 11 touchdowns while averaging 92.7 rushing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after six games last season, he had four rushing touchdowns.
