The Hettinger/Scranton Black Devils were the 47-46 winner over the Harding County Ranchers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Hettinger/Scranton might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Harding County an easy 60-36 win. Hettinger/Scranton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Harding County had a senior duo take command as Claire Verhulst scored 16 points along with three steals and Jaelyn Wendt dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Verhulst's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsi Costello, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Hettinger/Scranton now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Harding County, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hettinger/Scranton will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Center-Stanton at 10:00 a.m. on December 29th. Center-Stanton is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Harding County, they will head out on the road to face off against Bowman County co-op [Bowman/Rhame] at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bowman County co-op [Bowman/Rhame] is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
