Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity). They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Proviso East Pirates on Friday. The Blazers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10, 2024 (when they won 14-1).
Gisella Corral made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Corral was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Trinity got a massive performance out of Aly Lopez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Liv Trendel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Trinity kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Proviso East only managed three hits.
Trinity's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Proviso East, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Trinity and Proviso East could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Blazers (ranked 508th) will meet Aurora Central Catholic (ranked 97th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Proviso East will square off against Addison Trail at 4:45 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (525 vs. 256).
