Softball Recap: Industrial Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Industrial won the last time they faced Palacios and things went their way on Tuesday too. Industrial blew past Palacios 15-3. Considering the Cobras have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Balensiefen made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Khloe Lumpkins looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Clancy Kolle was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Claire Karl was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Industrial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palacios only posted an OBP of .217.

The win (which was Industrial's fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Palacios, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Industrial and Palacios will both be playing Columbus the next time they take the field. Industrial will host Columbus at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Palacios will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
