After a string of four wins, The Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson Mustangs''s good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 40-22 to Three Forks/Willow Creek. Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson gained 68 more yards on the day, but it was Three Forks/Willow Creek that made the best of use of them.
Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Treyton Wilke, who gained 116 total yards and two touchdowns. Blaine Downing was another key contributor, rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Shane Williams, who rushed for 236 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry. Williams' longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Andersen , who rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Three Forks/Willow Creek's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Dylan Andersen and his three sacks.
Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Three Forks/Willow Creek, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Three Forks/Willow Creek is on the road again on Saturday and play against Red Lodge/Roberts at 1:00 p.m. on November 4th. One thing working in Red Lodge/Roberts' favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
