The Richland Rangers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They blew past Wesson 83-59. Given Richland's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Wesson is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Wesson still got an impressive performance from Austin Johnson, who scored 23 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Johnson scored a full 39% of Wesson's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Richland now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Wesson, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Richland will be playing at home against Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wesson will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Salem at 7:30 p.m. on November 30th. Salem is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
