In what's become a running theme this season, the Massac County Patriots gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They breezed by DuQuoin at home to the tune of 84-57. Given Massac County's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while DuQuoin is ranked 449th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Massac County had a senior duo take command as Isaac Hosman scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and six assists and Will Harmon went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 2 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Abrie turner, who scored 11 points.
Loss or not, DuQuoin got some senior leadership from Dwayne Wilmington and Eli Maynor. Wilmington scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, while Maynor. scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amir Grant, who scored nine points.
Massac County is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 20 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. As for DuQuoin, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-18.
Massac County will be playing at home against Hamilton County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for DuQuoin, they will head out on the road to take on Nashville at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully DuQuoin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
