It was a good run, but the Lamar Texans unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to Bellaire. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Lamar lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jacoria Taylor, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, ten rebounds, and 11 blocks. Phoenix Sneed was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bellaire to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sarah Gregory, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and five steals. Gregory is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tyniah Smith, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lamar's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Bellaire, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Heights the next time they take the court. Lamar will head out to face Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Bellaire will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
