Softball Game Preview: Magee Trojans vs. Seminary Bulldogs

The Magee Trojans will square off against the Seminary Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Magee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

If Magee beats Seminary with 16 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Magee blew past Hazlehurst 16-4 last Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won four in a row.

Marli Parker spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maycie Smith was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Zylynda Funches, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4.

Magee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Seminary came up short against Jefferson Davis County on Tuesday, falling 11-3. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Seminary's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-9. As for Magee, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
