The St. Brendan Sabres will face off against the Gulliver Prep Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
St. Brendan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand American a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The Sabres haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Brandon Roca was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Allen Nunez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
St. Brendan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Gulliver Prep had no problem doing just that on Monday. They blew past the Stallions 14-1. The match marked the Raiders' most dominant victory of the season.
Ronin Robles looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Gulliver Prep's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 2-18 when he doesn't).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Lombard, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Gulliver Prep: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 4-19 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Parson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
St. Brendan pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Gulliver Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-20.
St. Brendan skirted past Gulliver Prep 7-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sabres since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
