Given Heritage Academy Gateway's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Lobos are ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heritage Academy Gateway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Johnston, who scored 13 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bo Dalton, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, BASIS - Peoria beat the Aztec Warrior 37-33 on Wednesday. The win was just what BASIS - Peoria needed coming off of a 89-35 loss in their prior match.
Heritage Academy Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for BASIS - Peoria, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6.
