The Godby Cougars suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-43 walloping at the hands of Rutherford. Godby was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rutherford apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Godby's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Staten, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Corey Williams, who scored eight points.
Godby has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Rutherford, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7.
Godby will take on Taylor County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Taylor County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Rutherford, they will head out on the road to challenge Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bay's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
