Baseball Recap: St. Thomas More Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

There's no place like home for St. Thomas More, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past the Dominican Knights 10-0 on Thursday. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Gabe Schmidt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. Thomas More is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 6-7 otherwise. Schmidt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Andrew Dodge was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Brayden Alivo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

St. Thomas More was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive games.

St. Thomas More has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Dominican, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Thomas More will head out to take on Kettle Moraine at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dominican, they will challenge Racine Lutheran/Prairie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
