Softball Game Preview: Neumann Celtics vs. South Fort Myers Wolfpack

The Neumann Celtics will square off against the South Fort Myers Wolfpack at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Neumann's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while South Fort Myers has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Neumann and Oasis meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. Neumann put the hurt on Oasis with a sharp 17-2 victory. The Celtics might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

Sophia Escobar made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Jesse Camejo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jennifer Drake, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Neumann kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 24 runs the game before, South Fort Myers was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They came up short against Babcock, falling 21-1.

Neumann's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for South Fort Myers, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything went Neumann's way against South Fort Myers in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Neumann made off with a 24-1 victory. Will Neumann repeat their success, or does South Fort Myers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
