It was a good run, but the Southeast Halifax Trojans unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to North Edgecombe. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Defeat or not, Southeast Halifax got some senior leadership from Trayvese Silver and Jayvion Demery. Silver scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Demery. scored 15 points. Silver hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Edgecombe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dontrevious Whitaker, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Whitaker is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Jahmir Parker was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Southeast Halifax's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for North Edgecombe, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4.
Southeast Halifax will square off against Northampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Edgecombe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northwest Halifax at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in North Edgecombe's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
