Pacheco hasn't had much luck against Ceres recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panthers will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pacheco is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game on Friday. They fell 16-12 to Johansen. Even if the Panthers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Emma Landeros was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Serenity Martinez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Ceres waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Spartans as they made off with a 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Alizae Cole made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Bella Bravo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kahaunani Sagapolu was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
Ceres always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They are 7-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Ceres pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pacheco, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
