The Bishop O'Connell Knights will take on the Episcopal Maroon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop O'Connell will be strutting in after a victory while Episcopal will be coming in after a defeat.
Bishop O'Connell barely beat St. Stephen's & St. Agnes the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Saints on Saturday. The Knights' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Robert Kilpatrick looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Bryant James was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Another player making a difference was Walker McElwain, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Bishop O'Connell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Episcopal and Bullis, and Bullis kept the tradition alive. The Maroon lost 17-2 to the Bulldogs on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Maroon couldn't push the score so high this time.
Episcopal saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Haddock, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Thomas Sigler also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Episcopal's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Bishop O'Connell, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Episcopal's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop O'Connell has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Episcopal, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Bishop O'Connell's sizable advantage in that area, the Maroon will need to find a way to close that gap.
