Baseball Recap: Indian River's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sussex Central, Indian River was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Delmar Wildcats by a score of 10-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Dylan Grise made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. He has become a key player for Indian River: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 4-5 otherwise. Grise was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kayden Vaught was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Indian River's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-5. As for Delmar, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Indian River has already played their next match, a 10-0 victory against Appoquinimink on the 9th. As for Delmar, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-1 loss against St. Mark's on the 8th.
