Tygarts Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Union Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Tygarts Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Tygarts Valley didn't have too much trouble with Notre Dame at home as they won 54-39.
It was another big night for Summer Lewis-Smith, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailen Yokum, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Union scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They breezed by Harman on the road to the tune of 65-16. Union has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 27 points or more this season.
Union can attribute much of their success to Chanelle Sutton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds, and Bailey Evans, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Sutton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brittany Thomas, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Tygarts Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-10 record this season. As for Union, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Tygarts Valley have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Tygarts Valley beat Union 44-35 in their previous matchup last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tygarts Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
