ROSEVILLE, Calif. -
Oakmont (Roseville, Calif.) put up 14 points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 41-14 victory over
Bella Vista (Fair Oaks, Calif.).
After taking the lead on a
Caspian Hamric touchdown run in the second quarter, the Vikings led 20-14 at the half.
Oakmont expanded its lead to 13 points entering the fourth quarter. OHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by
Taylor Laird to
Issac Thornton.
Jared Adams made a difference for the Broncos. The junior quarterback caught one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to two on the year.
Laird stood out for the Roseville school in the win. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
The Vikings had struggled this season, allowing 39.6 points per game. However, Oakmont's defense dug in and limited Bella Vista below its season average of 20.4 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 24-10 win for OHS.
The defeat comes as a step back for Bella Vista, which notched a 31-30 victory over Casa Roble in its previous outing. The win was a nice bounce back for the Vikings, which lost to Del Campo last week, 52-27.
Oakmont (3-5) will play a Capital Valley game against Rio Linda next week, while Bella Vista (4-4) will take on Del Campo also in a Capital Valley game.
