The Windsor Wizards will head out on the road to challenge the Mead Mavericks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Windsor will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Windsor is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Greeley West on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wizards, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ethan Fillinger was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Teegan Cole, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Windsor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Mead sidestepped Silver Creek for a 6-4 win.
Kaleb Walter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, Edison Burke and Stryker Leick did most of the damage at the plate: Burke went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Leick went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Burke is becoming a predictor of Mead's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Willie Eilers was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Windsor pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Mead, their record is now 10-4.
Both Windsor and Mead just can't seem to miss. The Wizards have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Mead struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Windsor's way against Mead in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Windsor made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Wizards have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mavericks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
