Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Fort Myers' Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Fort Myers, Fort Myers was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Ida Baker Bulldogs a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Green Wave have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sage Rodmyre and Faith Fazzone did most of the damage at the plate: Rodmyre went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Fazzone went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Fazzone a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amira Peterson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Fort Myers hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 15 consecutive games.

Fort Myers is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Ida Baker, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Fort Myers does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ida Baker, they will welcome North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
