The McDonough Rams were the 52-49 winner over the Leonardtown Raiders when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. McDonough was dealt a 54-17 loss at the hands of Leonardtown on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McDonough has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, McDonough saw an underclassman step up: Jalynn Rosier scored nine points along with two steals.
Teonne Thomas was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Alaina Burks was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
McDonough has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Leonardtown, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McDonough will take on Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Great Mills is ranked 129th, while McDonough is ranked 128th). As for Leonardtown, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Huntingtown at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Huntingtown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Monday.
