Baseball Recap: North Stokes Has No Trouble Against East Wilkes

North Stokes lost to East Wilkes back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Vikings have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Elijah Whicker made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael Frye, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jackson Lester was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

North Stokes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Wilkes only managed three hits.

North Stokes' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-6. As for East Wilkes, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

North Stokes wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 17-5 victory against South Stokes on the 15th. As for East Wilkes, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-6 win against Wilkes Central on the 9th.
