The Lake Central Indians will head out to square off against the Harrison Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Central has three straight wins, Harrison has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Lake Central made easy work of Michigan City and carried off a 12-1 victory. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Moira Falli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Falli was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Peyton Martin and Maddie Wainwright did most of the damage at the plate: Martin went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base, while Wainwright got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Wainwright a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexi Iwema, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.
Lake Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Harrison's offense. They fell just short of Zionsville by a score of 2-0 on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly two runs.
Harrison saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Duell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Duell's first of the season.
Lake Central's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Harrison, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Lake Central's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Indians have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Harrison, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lake Central continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Lake Central's way against Harrison in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Lake Central made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
