The Sumner Spartans can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They blew past South Kitsap 58-28 at home. Given Sumner's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while South Kitsap is ranked 184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lainee Houillon was her usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Shameela Isabell was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
When it comes to explaining why South Kitsap lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grace Degarimore. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Sumner's win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for South Kitsap, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.
Sumner will head out on the road to take on Curtis at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Curtis: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Sumner has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season. South Kitsap will take on Puyallup at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Puyallup and South Kitsap are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
